What kind of insulin syringes are there?

There are several brands of disposable syringes and several different sizes and lengths. You’ll see that the needles have a "gauge" specified.  This is the size of the needle – the larger the gauge, the thinner the needle.

You will also find that different syringes are used depending on the concentration of the insulin.  e.g. U-100 insulin as 100 units of insulin per cc of injectible fluid.  If you use U-100 insulin, you should be using a U-100 syringe. 

Insulin syringes should only be used once, and never shared with anyone else.  Once used, the syringe should be disposed of in a "sharps" container.  These are metal or glass containers that prevent the needles sticking through as this would obviously pose a hazard.
